Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist and Teacher near the Saint Charles, IL area. Two full-time roles are available: one itinerant position traveling between multiple sites and one based primarily at a middle school. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois PEL with DHH endorsement or the credentials to serve as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing children in educational settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to a broad range of student needs and learning styles
- Comfortable traveling to various school sites (for the itinerant role); reliable transportation is essential
What You'll Do:
- Provide direct and consultative instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in individual and group settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional approaches to optimize learning outcomes
- Support inclusion and self-advocacy, helping students develop confidence and engagement in the classroom
- Maintain required documentation and contribute to team meetings and student reviews
- For itinerant role: travel between sites with billable mileage; for middle school role: primarily serve one school
