Qualifications:

  • State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (per Illinois requirements)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting DHH students of varying ages and abilities
  • Experience with itinerant services or classroom-based instruction (preferred)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
  • Valid driver’s license (for itinerant positions)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative educational services to DHH students
  • Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and families to support student growth
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies for diverse learner needs
  • Travel between assigned schools (itinerant) or serve at one middle school site
