This fully contracted, full-time role (37.5 hours/week) is an excellent opportunity for experienced educators passionate about accessibility and equity in education. Two exciting openings are available: choose either an itinerant schedule covering multiple sites or focus exclusively on supporting students at a welcoming middle school as your home base.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Illinois Professional Educator License with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Prior experience teaching or supporting DHH students in school settings
- Strong skills in differentiation, individualized instruction, and IEP development
- Familiarity with audiological equipment and assistive technology
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Flexibility and adaptability for working in an itinerant or single-site role
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to DHH students according to individual needs and IEPs
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure accommodations and effective strategies
- Travel to multiple school sites (itinerant role) or provide in-depth support at a middle school (home base role)
- Utilize appropriate teaching methods, assistive technologies, and communication modes
- Advocate for students’ educational and social-emotional access
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and ongoing progress monitoring
- Attend IEP, team, and professional development meetings as required
- Mileage for work-related travel is reimbursable
