Key Qualifications:
- Illinois certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH)
- Expertise in providing services to deaf and hard of hearing students
- Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies for diverse needs
- Strong communication skills and capacity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to elementary-aged students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and educational staff to ensure meaningful access to the general curriculum
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in accordance with state regulations
- Use assessment tools to monitor student progress and adjust teaching approaches as needed
- Support students in building language, communication, and self-advocacy skills
- Serve as a resource to staff and families regarding best practices and accommodations for deaf/hard of hearing students
