Travel Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) in Midlothian, IL
An opportunity is available for a specialized educator with expertise in Deaf and Hard of Hearing services, based in Midlothian, IL. This role involves providing direct instructional and consultative support to students during the regular school year as well as delivering extended school year (ESY) services. The position includes travel responsibilities, serving multiple locations as part of the assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 100 minutes per week of direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Provide 180 minutes per month of consultative support to classroom teachers and related staff.
- During ESY (June 15, 2026 – July 24, 2026, Monday–Friday), offer Hearing Itinerant Services with 100 minutes per week of direct instruction.
- Provide 75 minutes per month of consultative support during the ESY period.
- Collaborate with educational teams to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Facilitate communication and advocacy for students across various school settings.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services and student progress.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification and experience as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher.
- Strong knowledge of communication strategies, hearing assistive technologies, and educational accommodations.
- Ability to work independently while managing travel schedules across multiple sites.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding special education.
