Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - New Market, IN

Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf / Hard of Hearing, or equivalent specialist license
- Previous experience working with K-12 students with hearing impairments
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with hearing assistive technology
- Strong ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and school staff
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both individually and in group settings
- Assess students’ educational needs and monitor progress toward academic and social goals
- Facilitate the use and maintenance of assistive listening devices and technology
- Consult with teachers regarding accommodations, modifications, and strategies to support student learning
- Act as a resource for students, faculty, and families to promote effective communication and understanding of Deaf culture
- Support the integration of students into mainstream classrooms as appropriate
