Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field from an accredited program • Active Massachusetts Initial or Professional Educator License: Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities or Teacher: Deaf and Hard of Hearing (All Levels) issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) • Demonstrated proficiency in the student's communication mode (e.g., American Sign Language, Listening and Spoken Language, or Total Communication) • Minimum of 2+ years of experience (school-based and/or teletherapy preferred) • Direct experience with IEP development, Massachusetts curriculum frameworks, and virtual specialized instruction is a plus • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills • Comfortable using teletherapy platforms, visual accessibility software, and remote instructional tools

Key Responsibilities Assessment & Instruction • Deliver direct specialized virtual instruction and consultation tailored to deaf and hard-of-hearing students across grade levels • Analyze audiological assessments and language evaluations to formulate, implement, and track individualized IEP goals • Provide engaging remote instruction adapted to the student's primary communication modality (auditory-verbal, ASL, or multimodal) • Monitor academic growth and language milestones, utilizing data to modify instructional techniques

Collaboration & Support • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education teams, parents, and educational interpreters to ensure full educational access • Recommend and support classroom acoustic adaptations, Assistive Listening Devices (FM/DM systems), and digital captioning tools • Participate actively in virtual IEP meetings, 504 plan reviews, and multidisciplinary team evaluations

Documentation & Compliance • Maintain thorough and timely documentation of direct service logs, progress reports, and IEP goal updates • Ensure all instructional practices and compliance documents strictly adhere to DESE guidelines, district policies, and federal special education mandates • Prepare detailed evaluation summaries and state-required compliance paperwork

Technology & Digital Accessibility • Utilize virtual learning platforms, digital whiteboards, and visual media to deliver accessible, dynamic remote instruction • Adapt digital and printed learning materials into accessible visual or acoustically optimized formats • Support school-based staff and families with platform navigation and assistive technology troubleshooting

Advocacy & Empowerment • Guide students in developing self-advocacy skills, understanding their hearing needs, and managing assistive equipment independently • Provide resources and consultative support to school staff regarding Deaf culture, language development, and inclusive classroom practices

Benefits & Compensation • 1099 Independent Contractor Status • Compensation for both Direct & Indirect Service Hours • Estimated Pay Range: $45 – $58+ / hr (commensurate with experience, district budget, and candidate fit) • Flexibility with schedule and working 100% from home
