ProCare Therapy Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Contract Today Apply

Make an impact supporting students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist within a diverse, welcoming educational environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with students across multiple sites as an itinerant specialist, or to focus on a single middle school location in a homebase model, both facilitating meaningful connections and academic success.

You’ll deliver direct instruction and collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to empower students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Flexible options are available: work full-time (35 hours/week) on-site with an engaging caseload, or contribute virtually/hybrid for high school students (10-12 hours/week) during the school day—whichever fits your expertise and circumstances.

Key Qualifications:

  • Illinois Professional Educator License with DHH endorsement required
  • Experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel between sites if itinerant role selected; billable mileage included
  • Comfort with virtual platforms for instruction (if part-time/virtual)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instructional services to DHH students
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to benefit diverse learners
  • Maintain clear communication with staff, families, and related service providers
  • Offer guidance on assistive technology, accommodations, and accessibility
  • Document student progress and participate in IEP team meetings

This is a rewarding opportunity to shape meaningful educational outcomes for students with hearing differences. If you’re passionate about inclusion and educational access—and either enjoy working across multiple sites or prefer a middle school homebase—explore a new chapter in your career. Flexible work options and billable mileage support your mobility and work-life balance.

Apply today to bring your talent and compassion to a thriving student community!

Compensation for this position ranges from $30.00 to $45.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
