Desired Qualifications:
- Current certification or eligibility as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience delivering specialized instruction to students with a range of hearing needs
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Skilled in adapting curriculum using visual supports, captions, and accessible resources
- Familiarity with hearing assistive technology (hearing aids, FM/DM systems) and troubleshooting strategies
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills
- Proven ability to monitor progress and implement effective communication strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized, needs-based instruction to K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Support students’ development in listening, speech, language, and communication
- Adapt general education materials and curriculum for maximum accessibility
- Monitor and document progress toward IEP goals, participating in multi-disciplinary meetings as needed
- Consult with teachers and staff to promote inclusive practices
- Assist with use and daily maintenance of assistive listening technology
- Travel between school sites as part of an itinerant service model
Multiple full-time, itinerant roles are available in both Freeport, Ogle County, and Hampshire, Illinois.
