Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials required)
- Previous experience working with children and adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices, sign language, and auditory/oral communication approaches
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators, families, and support staff
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Dedication to promoting an inclusive, accessible learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a variety of educational settings
- Adapt curriculum materials for accessibility and comprehension
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations and resources to ensure student success
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, administrators, and families to ensure a coordinated approach
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Keep detailed records and participate in IEP meetings as required
