Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - South Boston, Virginia
Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing on a contract basis. In this position, you'll provide specialized instruction and advocacy for students with hearing differences, partnering with educators and families to create inclusive, accessible learning experiences. Key Details:
- Teacher hours are 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM on standard days.
- Special schedule: June 1 (8:00 AM–3:30 PM) and June 17 (afternoon only, 1:30 PM–4:30 PM).
- Student instructional dates: June 2–5, June 8–12, and June 15–17, 2026.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential with specialization and/or endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education.
- Experience teaching and supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in sign language and assistive technology.
- Ability to adapt curriculum and classroom environments to meet individual needs.
- Collaborative approach to working with diverse teams, including school staff and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using strategies and resources tailored to varied communication needs.
