Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education.
- Proven experience in classroom or itinerant teaching for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other modalities such as auditory-oral or cued speech as needed.
- Deep understanding of IEP processes, communication devices, and assistive technology.
- Collaborative mindset—comfortable working with students, families, support staff, and general educators.
- Commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and a positive learning atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in accordance with IEP goals.
- Assess student progress, adapt educational plans, and document outcomes.
- Support classroom educators through consultation and co-teaching as appropriate.
- Advocate for student access and inclusion throughout the school environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding progress and strategies.
- Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices.
