Make a difference in the lives of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing by providing essential instruction and support for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, contract role focuses on serving a caseload of 10 students across 1st to 12th grades. The position is fully onsite, with hours typically between 8AM and 4PM, and offers travel professional opportunities for those outside the immediate area.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Alaska teaching license for Deaf / Hard of Hearing or demonstrated eligibility (pending applications considered with appropriate documentation)
  • Current or pending Type C certification (provide proof or certification numbers)
  • Expertise working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in a school setting
  • Competence in collaborative teaching across a variety of grade levels (1st-12th)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with families, students, and educational staff
  • Commitment to travel onsite as required; reimbursement for travel is provided

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver specialized lesson plans tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Adapt instructional strategies to a range of ages and learning needs
  • Provide direct support and consultative services to students, teachers, and families
  • Utilize assessment tools to monitor student progress, documenting outcomes and adjusting approaches as needed
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to shape individualized education programs (IEPs) and ensure compliance
  • Maintain accurate records and participate actively in school meetings
