Key Qualifications:
- Current state certification or licensure in teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Strong understanding of various communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), Oral/Aural techniques, and assistive technology
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure student success
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adjusting strategies to match each learner’s unique needs
- Evaluate student progress using formal and informal assessments, and maintain accurate records
- Advocate for students, ensuring equitable access to the general education curriculum and school resources
- Serve as a resource and guide for school staff regarding the needs and best practices for deaf/hard of hearing students
- Participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and ongoing professional development
