Teacher of the Deaf in Danbury, NC
An opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students to support K-12 learners on an itinerant basis. This contract position offers 20 hours per week in a school setting located in Danbury, NC, designed to meet the needs of a new DHH program for the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across grades K-12.
- Deliver itinerant teaching services, adapting lessons to individual student needs and using appropriate communication methods.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with families and educational teams.
Qualifications:
- Valid licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in K-12 settings.
- Strong knowledge of specialized instructional strategies and assistive technologies.
- Ability to work independently while managing travel between multiple school sites.
- Flexibility for potentially increased hours; candidates holding a Special Education license may be considered for full-time placement.
Location: Danbury, North Carolina – serving multiple schools within the district on an itinerant basis.
