In this role, you’ll work exclusively onsite within a K-12 setting, bringing tailored instructional strategies and individualized support to students. As the sole Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the district during this assignment, you’ll collaborate closely with fellow educators and engage directly with students at all grade levels. Your expertise and compassion will help create accessible classrooms and nurturing learning environments that celebrate every learner’s abilities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Demonstrated experience with K-12 students in school settings
- Expertise in sign language, assistive listening technologies, and individualized education planning
- Strong skills in developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing-related needs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and administrators
- Commitment to innovative, inclusive teaching practices
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to K-12 students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Develop and adapt lesson plans for accessible learning
- Monitor progress and collaborate on IEP teams
- Advocate for students’ communication needs and access to the curriculum
- Engage in ongoing communication with families and staff
- Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with educational requirements
