Desired Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification with specialization in Deaf or Hard of Hearing education
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used by the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community
• Previous experience teaching or working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students at K-12 grade levels
• Strong collaborative skills for working with general education teachers, parents, and support staff
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
• Familiarity with IEP development and compliance

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to diverse learning styles
• Facilitate direct instruction in academic, language, and communication skills for students who are deaf/hard of hearing
• Employ a range of communication tools, including ASL, spoken language, and assistive technology
• Partner with classroom teachers to modify materials and ensure classroom inclusion
• Monitor student progress and participate in IEP meetings and progress reviews
• Advocate for students’ access and success within both academic and extracurricular settings
