Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization in Deaf or Hard of Hearing education
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used by the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community
- Previous experience teaching or working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students at K-12 grade levels
- Strong collaborative skills for working with general education teachers, parents, and support staff
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
- Familiarity with IEP development and compliance
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to diverse learning styles
- Facilitate direct instruction in academic, language, and communication skills for students who are deaf/hard of hearing
- Employ a range of communication tools, including ASL, spoken language, and assistive technology
- Partner with classroom teachers to modify materials and ensure classroom inclusion
- Monitor student progress and participate in IEP meetings and progress reviews
- Advocate for students’ access and success within both academic and extracurricular settings
