Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students
  • Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong skills in sign language (ASL or Signed English) and other communication modalities
  • Understanding of educational modifications and assistive technology for hearing-impaired students
  • Ability to work collaboratively with general education staff and related service providers
  • Compassion, patience, and an enthusiasm for making learning accessible

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction tailored to each student’s communication and educational needs
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adapt curriculum, provide classroom accommodations, and monitor student progress
  • Advocate for appropriate resources and support for DHH students within the school
  • Act as a liaison between students, teachers, parents, and support staff to enhance student success
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
