Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH); Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) for classroom communication
  • Valid Alabama Department of Education (DOE) Certification
  • Experience working with middle school students is a plus
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to middle school students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Adapt curriculum materials and utilize technology for enhanced accessibility
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive educational plans
  • Track student progress, write and implement IEPs, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Foster a positive, supportive learning environment using bilingual and visual instructional strategies
