This position offers an opportunity to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across multiple grade levels, including early childhood through high school, within a school district setting. The role involves delivering specialized education services tailored to students' unique communication and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in grades K-12 who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curricula and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Utilize specialized teaching strategies and technologies to enhance student learning and communication.
  • Assist across multiple schools within the district as needed.
  • Monitor student progress and provide ongoing assessments and reports.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the academic and social development of students.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Level Degree in Education focused on Teaching Deaf Students.
  • State Teaching Certification in Deaf Education.
  • Experience working with students across early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school grade levels.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.

Location:

  • Norfolk, VA area, supporting various schools within the district.

Position Details:

  • Contract role, starting as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year.
  • Minimum 30 hours per week, five days per week.
  • Serving students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
