This position offers an opportunity to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across multiple grade levels, including early childhood through high school, within a school district setting. The role involves delivering specialized education services tailored to students' unique communication and learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in grades K-12 who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curricula and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies and technologies to enhance student learning and communication.
- Assist across multiple schools within the district as needed.
- Monitor student progress and provide ongoing assessments and reports.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the academic and social development of students.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Level Degree in Education focused on Teaching Deaf Students.
- State Teaching Certification in Deaf Education.
- Experience working with students across early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school grade levels.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Location:
- Norfolk, VA area, supporting various schools within the district.
Position Details:
- Contract role, starting as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year.
- Minimum 30 hours per week, five days per week.
- Serving students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
