Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used in DHH education
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with varying degrees of hearing loss, using strategies and resources suited to their needs
- Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and appropriate accommodations within the school
- Foster student growth in language, communication, literacy, and social-emotional skills
- Provide training and support to staff and families, facilitating inclusion and understanding
- Use assessment data to track progress and inform instructional decisions
