Make a meaningful impact in education by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic, full-time, onsite role. This contract opportunity spans the full academic year, offering the chance to provide specialized instruction and advocacy as an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. You’ll work across a middle school and two elementary schools, collaborating closely with educators and families to ensure all students have equitable access to learning.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with DHH endorsement required
- Previous experience teaching or supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in school settings
- Strong knowledge of assistive listening technologies and accommodation strategies
- Excellent collaborative and communication skills
- Adaptability to work across multiple campuses as an itinerant team member
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional support and consultation services to students ages K-8
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for DHH students
- Consult with general and special education teachers to adapt curriculum and learning environments
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion in classroom and school activities
- Monitor student progress, manage documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Educate school personnel and families about DHH needs and resources
