Qualifications:
- Valid and active Louisiana DOE certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
- Current residency and full certification in Louisiana strongly preferred
- Ability to successfully clear district-required drug screening and fingerprinting
- Experience in school-based or similar educational settings is highly valued
- Strong communication and advocacy skills for working with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility and readiness to quickly transition into the role
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing differences across various grade levels (exact caseload and ages to be determined)
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
- Collaborate with general educators, support staff, and parents to cultivate inclusive classrooms
- Adapt educational materials to meet diverse learning needs
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to ongoing staff development
- Fulfill all documentation and compliance requirements as outlined by the district
