Qualifications:

  • Valid and active Louisiana DOE certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (required)
  • Current residency and full certification in Louisiana strongly preferred
  • Ability to successfully clear district-required drug screening and fingerprinting
  • Experience in school-based or similar educational settings is highly valued
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills for working with students, staff, and families
  • Flexibility and readiness to quickly transition into the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with hearing differences across various grade levels (exact caseload and ages to be determined)
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
  • Collaborate with general educators, support staff, and parents to cultivate inclusive classrooms
  • Adapt educational materials to meet diverse learning needs
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to ongoing staff development
  • Fulfill all documentation and compliance requirements as outlined by the district
