An opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students in an educational setting in Olympia, WA. This contract role involves providing specialized instruction and support to children with hearing impairments, fostering their academic growth and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students with hearing loss
- Use specialized teaching methods and assistive technology to enhance language development and learning
- Collaborate closely with parents, general education teachers, and related service providers to create a supportive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches as necessary
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school community and participate in professional development opportunities related to deaf education
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proven experience working with children who have hearing impairments in a school setting
- Knowledge of audiological equipment, American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse educational teams
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible classroom environment
