Virtual Teach of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - KY
Providing specialized educational support for a fourth-grade Deaf student, this role focuses on delivering tailored instruction within a K-12 school setting. The position requires fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Language Interpretation (SLI) to effectively facilitate communication and learning for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This contract role, based in the Murray, KY area, offers a schedule of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 11:10 a.m. to 2:50 p.m., serving a 1:1 caseload.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- KY certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing fluent in ASL or SLI.
- Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, education, or a related field.
- NAD or RID certification preferred.
- Minimum of two years interpreting experience in educational or similar settings.
- Ability to complete mandatory fingerprinting and CAN background check through Identigo prior to starting.
- Willingness to comply with all licensing requirements, including pending licenses with prints completed before commencement.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized education tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Using ASL or SLI to maintain clear and effective communication.
- Collaborating with educational staff to adapt curriculum and instruction.
- Supporting social and academic development within the classroom environment.
- Maintaining compliance with state and district policies for special education.
