Position Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Location: New York (Fully Remote)

Schedule: 37.5–40 Hours per week
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide virtual educational services and support to students across New York. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for educators who are passionate about promoting communication access, academic achievement, and independence for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with hearing differences, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering engaging instruction through a virtual platform.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct virtual instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies aligned with student IEP goals
Support students in developing communication, language, self-advocacy, and academic skills
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, speech-language pathologists, interpreters, audiologists, and families
Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations regarding accommodations, modifications, and specialized services
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation of services provided
Consult with educational teams regarding classroom accessibility, hearing accommodations, and communication strategies
Support the implementation and effective use of assistive listening devices and hearing technology
Utilize virtual learning platforms and telepractice tools to deliver high-quality instruction and services
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education for Teaching required
Active New York teaching license or eligibility to obtain New York licensure
Certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing required
Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Experience providing virtual instruction or telepractice services preferred
Knowledge of hearing assistive technology, communication modalities, and accessibility supports
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Reliable internet connection and professional home office environment required
Preferred Experience
K–12 educational settings
IEP development and special education compliance
American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency
Collaboration with audiologists, interpreters, and related service providers
Virtual instruction and remote service delivery
Supporting students with diverse communication and learning needs
