Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in GA
A full-time teaching opportunity is available to support a kindergarten student with hearing impairments via telehealth. The focus is on facilitating language acquisition and American Sign Language (ASL) skills for a student who is in the early stages of learning to communicate through sign language. The student uses a cochlear implant and is beginning to develop an understanding of basic signs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction and support in ASL and language development tailored to the individual needs of the student
- Collaborating on strategies to enhance communication skills and overall language acquisition
- Monitoring progress and adjusting teaching methods accordingly
- Providing telehealth sessions that effectively engage and motivate the student
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Experience teaching young children, particularly kindergarten-aged students
- Strong knowledge of ASL and expertise in language development for students with hearing loss
- Familiarity with cochlear implant technology and its impact on language learning
- Comfort and proficiency with telehealth platforms and remote instruction
