Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing | Illinois
An opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, delivering services via telehealth. This role supports students in an educational setting by providing specialized instruction and support designed to meet the needs of children with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments to determine individual student needs related to hearing and communication.
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Utilizing telehealth platforms to deliver instructional services and monitor student progress.
- Collaborating with families, educators, and related service providers to ensure consistent support for students.
- Maintaining detailed records of student progress and reporting to appropriate educational personnel.
- Staying current with best practices and technology related to Deaf education and telehealth delivery methods.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
- Experience delivering educational services through telehealth or similar virtual platforms.
- Knowledge of language development and communication strategies related to hearing loss.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage students effectively in a remote setting.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Familiarity with federal and state special education laws and regulations.
