Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Deaf Education, or a related field
• Active Arizona Standard Professional Hearing Impaired Special Education Certificate (Birth-Grade 12) or a valid teaching certificate with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement issued by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE)
• Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Demonstrated communication proficiency matching student needs (e.g., American Sign Language, Listening and Spoken Language, or total communication frameworks)
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience (school-based and/or teletherapy preferred)
• Experience with IEP development and virtual specialized instruction is a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
• Comfortable using teletherapy platforms and digital accessibility tools

Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Intervention
• Provide virtual direct specialized instruction and consultative services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Analyze audiological assessments and language data to develop and implement individualized IEP goals
• Deliver engaging, remote instruction tailored to the student’s primary mode of communication (auditory, visual, or multimodal)
• Track student academic and linguistic progress using data to guide instructional adjustments

Collaboration & Support
• Work closely with general education teachers, parents, educational interpreters, and school staff to support student access to the curriculum
• Provide training and strategies for classroom accommodations, FM/HAT systems, and environmental acoustics
• Participate in virtual IEP meetings, eligibility evaluations, and multidisciplinary team discussions

Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, progress logs, and IEP goals
• Ensure services strictly meet Arizona state, district, and federal special education guidelines
• Complete educational evaluations, compliance paperwork, and progress reports as required

Technology & Teletherapy Tools
• Utilize virtual platforms, closed-captioning features, and digital tools to deliver highly engaging, accessible sessions
• Adapt visual and auditory materials for an effective online learning environment
• Troubleshoot basic tech issues and support families with virtual setup or remote hearing technology integration

Advocacy & Education
• Support students in developing self-advocacy skills regarding their hearing needs and accommodations
• Provide resources and education to families and school teams on Deaf culture and deaf education strategies
