Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Raeford, North Carolina
Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing supporting a small caseload of elementary and middle school students. This contract position focuses on directly meeting the IEP requirements of three students in grades 3rd, 5th, and 6th. The role involves working both independently and collaboratively with school teams to foster communication, accessibility, and educational growth for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing teacher (DHH specialist)
- Previous experience providing educational support to elementary or middle school students with hearing needs
- Proficiency in employing a range of instructional strategies, with ability to adapt to individual student needs
- Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation
- Knowledge of assistive technology such as receivers, microphones, and computer testing hookup
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Comfortable providing direct services as required by IEP
- Experience with virtual support is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to three students as detailed in their IEPs, totaling structured, individualized support:
- Student 1: 2 sessions per month (15 minutes each)
- Student 2: Weekly session (15 minutes)
- Student 3: 3 sessions per month (60 minutes each)
- Integrate assistive technologies to support accessibility and participation
- Monitor and document student progress in consultation with IEP teams
- Provide guidance and recommendations to classroom teachers regarding best practices for inclusion
- Maintain compliance with IEP-reported minutes and educational objectives
- Foster a positive, supportive learning environment for students with hearing needs
