Empower students of all ages as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract position, based in a district-wide setting near Andover, KS, offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference from Early Childhood through grade 12. You’ll travel to multiple locations, providing direct instruction and advocacy for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Your expertise will enable students’ academic, social, and communication success. You’ll tailor curriculum to students’ needs, integrate assistive technology, and promote inclusive learning practices across mainstream and specialized classrooms. The assignment spans the 2026-2027 school year, with full-time onsite hours (37.5 hours per week), and a possible future hybrid model.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential required with endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting students with hearing differences (all age ranges, EC-12) preferred.
  • Confidence adapting curriculum and facilitating communication via both sign language and spoken language modalities.
  • Strong skills advocating for student accessibility and inclusion.
  • Experience writing and implementing IEP goals.
  • Familiarity with a variety of assistive technologies used in educational settings.

  • Adapt and modify curriculum and teaching methods to optimize learning.
  • Facilitate communication, whether through sign or spoken language, based on individual student needs.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families across multiple sites.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals.
