Teacher of the Deaf | Buda, Texas

Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience supporting students with hearing impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Strong proficiency in sign language and familiarity with assistive technology for D/HH students
- Passion for advocating for students with diverse communication needs
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal
- Ability to develop rapport and trust in a 1:1 setting
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized instruction and support to a student who is deaf
- Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet the student’s unique learning needs
- Promote an inclusive and accessible educational experience, collaborating with classroom teachers and staff as needed
- Utilize assistive listening devices, sign language, and visual supports to facilitate communication
- Monitor student progress and document achievements, ensuring educational goals are met during the contract period
- Advocate for the student’s accessibility needs within the academic environment
