Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher on a contract basis. This position will work closely with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, delivering specialized instruction and advocacy to foster growth, engagement, and equal access to education. Both on-site and virtual opportunities may be available, depending on the evolving needs of the school.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher.
  • Demonstrated experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in educational settings.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods used within the deaf/hard of hearing community.
  • Skillful in developing and adapting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Strong collaboration abilities with educators, families, and support staff.
  • Commitment to promoting a supportive, inclusive learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students, adapting methods to meet individual learning needs.
  • Participate in IEP meetings to develop and review educational goals.
  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing effective accommodations and differentiation strategies.
  • Foster communication strategies that empower student independence.
  • Advocate for student needs and facilitate access to resources.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of progress and communications.
