Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Experience working with children or teens who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school-based setting
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or other communication modalities
- Commitment to individualized education plans (IEPs) and student advocacy
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ communication and learning needs, and design effective instruction accordingly
- Provide direct instruction and support services to students with hearing loss
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to implement accommodations and modifications
- Engage with families to foster communication strategies and offer resources
- Assist in the development and review of IEPs to ensure legal compliance and student growth
- Contribute to a positive, accessible, and engaging classroom culture
