Make a meaningful impact guiding and supporting K-8 students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) specialist in a dynamic educational setting near Goodyear, AZ! This full-year, contract role offers the chance to positively shape the academic journey of approximately 25 students across 10 campuses within a supportive district. Mileage between sites is reimbursed to ease your commute as you serve a diverse and vibrant caseload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for K-8 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, developing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each learner’s unique needs.
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to ensure educational accessibility and foster inclusive classroom environments.
- Collaborate closely with general and special education teachers, counselors, and support staff to create optimal learning conditions.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and families, acting as an advocate and resource.
- Track progress, maintain accurate records, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
- Conduct and participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and professional development activities.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Specialist in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education.
- Experience supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in school settings, particularly K-8 preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to travel between campuses (mileage reimbursed).
- Commitment to fostering empowering, accessible learning environments.
