Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or comparable state-issued credential
- Knowledge of various communication methods, assistive technologies, and accommodations for deaf or hard of hearing students
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
- Strong collaboration and consultation skills with educators, families, and administrators
- Experience providing direct instruction and support in both individual and group settings
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and advocacy for accessibility
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs to develop effective instructional strategies and accommodations
- Provide direct and consultative support for students, ensuring access to the general curriculum
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and update IEPs
- Advise and train staff and families on hearing loss, classroom modifications, and best practices
- Coordinate with outside agencies for resources and services as needed
- Monitor student progress and maintain documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
