Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- State certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or equivalent credentials
- Proven experience working with children or youth with hearing impairments in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of assistive technology, auditory devices, and relevant accommodations
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods for DHH students
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities
- Ability to develop and interpret individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting teaching methods and materials as needed
- Assess students’ abilities and collaborate on the creation and implementation of effective IEP goals and objectives
- Educate and train teachers, staff, and parents on effective strategies and accommodations for DHH students
- Foster self-advocacy, social skills, and independence in students
- Utilize and instruct on hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems, and related technology
- Serve as a liaison between school staff, families, and external hearing resources or agencies
