Support students in an educational setting as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and Teacher. In this contract position, you’ll collaborate closely with school staff and make a meaningful impact by ensuring students with hearing differences receive the support and instruction necessary for their academic growth and confidence.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current teaching certification with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement (or eligibility to obtain)
- Prior experience teaching or providing services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and assistive technologies for students with hearing loss
- Strong skills in sign language (ASL or Signed English) preferred
- Ability to modify curriculum and create accessible learning environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for working with students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across grade levels, following individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Advise and collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt materials and instructional techniques to meet students’ unique needs
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust strategies as necessary
- Consult with parents and educational teams regarding student development, accommodations, and technology recommendations
- Foster an inclusive environment, promoting awareness around Deaf culture and accessibility
