Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related credentials
- Prior experience teaching or supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a school environment
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with assistive technology
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapt curriculum as needed
- Creative problem-solving approach and dedication to inclusive education
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in various classroom settings
- Assess student abilities, progress, and needs, and report findings to the educational team
- Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and families to promote student success
- Advocate for appropriate classroom modifications and use of assistive devices
- Participate in IEP meetings and help develop personalized learning plans
- Provide training and guidance to staff on effective strategies and communication with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
