Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist - Oswego, Illinois
This full-time position is ideal for a certified Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing seeking to provide specialized educational services in an elementary school setting. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) certification in Illinois
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an elementary school environment
- Strong understanding of communication strategies and educational techniques tailored to hearing-impaired learners
- Ability to collaborate effectively with families, school staff, and related service providers
Location and Schedule:
- Onsite position located near Bristol, IL, with a relocation possibility in the Oswego area
- Full-time hours per week, consistent with school calendar and operational hours
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Deliver direct instruction and support incorporating speech, auditory, sign language, and other communication methods
- Monitor student progress and modify instructional methods as needed to maximize learning outcomes
- Provide consultation and training to classroom teachers and staff regarding accommodations and communication strategies
- Foster an inclusive environment that promotes language development and social integration
