In this rewarding contract position, you'll facilitate communication and foster inclusion for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students, collaborating closely with teachers, staff, and families. Qualifications:
- Current certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V, OR
- A score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), plus a passing score on the EIPA written exam
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and excellent receptive/expressive skills
- Experience working with K-12 students (preferred, not required)
- Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and fostering a supportive classroom environment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between students and staff using American Sign Language
- Deliver clear, contextually appropriate interpretations in one-on-one and group settings
- Collaborate with educational teams to meet individualized needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Support students’ integration and participation in academic and extracurricular activities
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in educational interpreting
