Qualifications:
- Certification via the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V
OR - Minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), plus passing the EIPA written exam
- Proficiency in American Sign Language, with experience in educational interpreting preferred
- Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professional conduct in all school settings
- Ability to support students across a wide age range (K-12)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language for students and school staff within an on-site K-12 setting
- Support instruction and ensure full participation of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the varying needs of students and classroom situations
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate effective learning environments
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions as required
