Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Atlanta, GA

Desired qualifications and experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
- Strong understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods used with D/HH students
- Experience with educational technology and assistive devices for students with hearing loss
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, staff, and parents
- Experience in school settings highly preferred
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailored to their individual learning goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to adapt curriculum and instruction
- Assess students' academic progress and communication skills, documenting growth and areas needing support
- Advocate for students' needs and promote accessibility and inclusion within the school environment
- Engage families, offering resources and strategies to support learning at home
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
