Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
- Experience in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
- Ability to adapt instructional methods to ensure access and engagement for diverse learners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and educational teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both in individual and group settings
- Develop tailored lesson plans that address the specific educational and communication needs of each student
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and school staff to support students’ learning and inclusion
- Conduct assessments to monitor students' progress and adjust strategies as needed
- Offer guidance to families and educators on assistive technology and classroom adaptations
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence
