In this contract position, you’ll work collaboratively within the school environment to deliver specialized instruction, consult with staff, and help foster inclusive, accessible learning experiences for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods for D/deaf and hard of hearing students
- Previous experience working with students in a school or educational setting preferred
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction tailored to meet each student’s unique needs and learning styles
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to optimize student outcomes
- Develop and adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility
- Advocate for students’ communication preferences and needs across the school community
- Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and maintain accurate records
- Offer training and resources to school staff on deaf culture and communication strategies
- Participate in IEP meetings and serve as a resource regarding best practices for deaf and hard of hearing learners
