Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification
- Expertise in using American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods (e.g., total communication, oral approaches)
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a school setting is preferred
- Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong commitment to student advocacy, differentiation, and access to curriculum
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across various grade levels
- Assess individual student needs and adapt curriculum and teaching styles to meet those needs
- Work closely with general and special education staff to support student integration and academic progress
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with all regulations
- Offer guidance and support to classroom teachers regarding strategies, accommodations, and assistive technology
- Foster positive relationships with families to encourage student growth and independence
- Support students in both group and one-on-one settings as needed
