Essential Qualifications:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility for state certification
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modes used in Deaf education
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in school settings
- Solid understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with teachers, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, accessible instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with hearing loss
- Assess individual student abilities and develop effective educational strategies and accommodations
- Consult with general education teachers to foster inclusive classroom environments and offer resources or adaptations as needed
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and help set meaningful student goals
- Advocate for students and educate peers and staff about Deaf culture and accessibility best practices
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
