Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (as required by the state)
- Demonstrated expertise in providing direct instruction to students with hearing impairments
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other appropriate communication modes
- Experience assessing educational needs and developing individualized plans for DHH students
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities
- Passion for inclusive, student-centered teaching
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and academic support based on students’ individual education plans (IEPs)
- Utilize a variety of communication methods, including ASL and assistive technology, to maximize student engagement and learning
- Advocate for students’ participation in the classroom and wider school community
- Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure consistent support and accommodations
- Conduct assessments and provide input for IEP development and progress monitoring
