Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Special Education – Deaf Education (P–12), or Special Education General Curriculum (P–12) with current Deaf/Hard of Hearing Endorsement
- Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Familiarity with various communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), cued speech, and auditory/oral approaches
- Strong collaborative skills for working within interdisciplinary teams and partnering with classroom teachers, therapists, and families
- Exceptional communication, flexibility, and adaptability in supporting students across different grade levels and school environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing at several school sites within the district
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to classroom teachers and support staff, ensuring an inclusive and accessible learning environment
- Assess student skill levels, track progress, and maintain detailed records to support IEP goals and objectives
- Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere that promotes communication, self-advocacy, and independence
- Participate in IEP meetings, conduct ongoing progress monitoring, and engage families in their student’s educational journey
