Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification appropriate for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of current instructional strategies
- Ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team, including families and other educators
- Familiarity with IEP development and progress monitoring
- Patience, empathy, and a steadfast commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction individually and in small groups to students with hearing needs
- Develop and implement IEP goals in partnership with families and staff
- Assist with language and communication development, using ASL and other evidence-based methods
- Support students' access to the general curriculum through adapted resources and technology
- Serve as a go-to resource for staff and families on matters related to hearing loss, advocacy, and accessibility
